Psychodrama for Children
In Hungary, psychodrama has a longer history than other art therapies, so many people treat this healing method separately. The therapists at Smile, who are trained by Hanna Kende, work with children’s experiences, stories and fantasies in drama. In psychodrama, children create their own stories to act out together.
The joy of acting and playing together allows internal problems to be resolved, and different experiences to be relived and processed. Expanding the repertoire of roles helps to learn new patterns of behaviour which can support reducing social isolation. In psychodrama, children can experience creativity, improve their self-esteem and value themselves. All these psychological changes can be traced in the children’s behaviour and social role.
